The proximity to Shu Swamp Preserve, Francis Ponds, Mill Neck Creek and the Humes Japanese Stroll garden was cited as the reason to conserve the property. The Alliance sent out letters in late July. Presumably the many smaller buildings, some currently rented, can continue to provide an income while the Alliance makes plans for opening the property and more importantly finding a use for the large main house itself, not to mention the repairs and maintenance all that will require.
