Recently began reading Nelson DeMille's The Gold Coast and wanted to discover more about these estates. May plan a drive around the area this spring. I've lived on LI about 48 years and enjoy learning some of its history. Thank you.
Have read Nelson demille's Gold Coast. Several times. Because of this book I am fascinated by the history and secrets left behind. When driving with a friend from Europe, he was bewildered by the immense wealth that still exists in this area. He told me that Europe does not begin to compare with how wealthy this country was and continues to be.
