The indoor tennis court at 'Welwyn', the Harold I. Pratt estate designed by Babb, Cook & Willard c. 1906 in Glen Cove with extensive alterations by Delano & Aldrich in the 1920s (including the indoor tennis court). It seems that Nassau County rents out the residence that is attached to the tennis court but the court itself fell into a ruinous state many years ago. Click HERE for more on 'Welwyn'. 'Welwyn', the Harold I. Pratt estate designed by Babb, Cook & Willard c. 1906 in Glen Cove. Pratt was a chairman of the board of North American Reassurance Co., president of the boards of North Shore Community Hospital and Brooklyn Hospital and treasurer and director of Morris Building Co. among many other things. A 1916 article from Country Life in America by Benjamin Goodrich on 'Dosoris Park', the Pratt family complex of estates at the northern end of Glen Cove, begun in 1891. Recently uncovered from a couple of decades of unabated plant growth are the greenhouses to 'Welwyn', the Harold I. Pratt estate in Glen Cove. The main house was originally designed by Babb, Cook & Willard c. 1906 but Delano & Aldrich gave the house an extensive makeover in the 1920s. Click HERE for more on 'Welwyn'.
