The George G. Bourne Estate

The George Galt Bourne estate designed by Harrie Lindeberg c. 1920 in Lattingtown.  Bourne was the son of Frederick G. Bourne, President of Singer Sewing Machine, who resided at 'Indian Neck Hall' in Oakdale.  G.G. Bourne was partner in the stock brokerage firm of Talcott, Porter & Co.  According to Spinzia the home is extant on Sheep Lane.  Photo from House & Garden, 1920.

'Coxwould'

'Coxwould', the Dr. John F. Erdmann estate designed by Albro & Lindeberg c. 1912 in East Hampton. Erdmann, a surgeon, was known as "the grand old man" of New York surgery and according to his obituary had performed over 20,000 operations since he opened his practice on Lexington Avenue in 1887. He was Professor of Surgery and Director of Surgery at the New York Post-Graduate Medical College and Hospital from 1908-1934. 'Beaver Brook Farm'

'Beaver Brook Farm', the Henry Lewis Batterman Sr. estate designed by Harrie Lindeberg c. 1914 in Mill Neck with landscaping by the Olmsted Brothers. Batterman was vice-president of the H. Batterman Department Store which became Frederick Loeser & Co. in 1909 after Batterman sold out. He was also a nationally known breeder of Guernsey cattle which eventually became a milk business that served the estates on the North Shore.
