'Applegreen'

'Applegreen', built for William C. Whitney as a wedding present to his son Harry Payne Whitney and his wife Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney by McKim, Mead & White c. 1902 in Old Westbury.  After W.C. Whitney's death in 1904 the couple moved into his residence 'The Manse', also by McKim, Mead & White and gave 'Applegreen' to his sister Dorothy and her husband Willard D. The William W. Cocks Estate

The William Willets Cocks estate, a Quaker farmhouse built for his family c. 1805 and later enlarged for Cocks in Old Westbury.  His nickname was 'The Quaker Congressman' and he also served as Mayor of Old Westbury from 1924 (the year of incorporation) to 1932.  Click HERE for more on the Cocks estate and HERE to see the residence on bing.

'Loewmoor' Interiors

The J. Sergeant Cram Estate

The John Sergeant Cram estate built c. 1900 in Old Westbury.  Cram was an attorney and member of the Public Service Commission.  The estate was destroyed by fire in the 1980s, click HERE for photos.

The Grotto at 'Spring Hill'

Buried in the woods at 'Spring Hill' and covered in weeds is this grotto which fed a small stream that emptied into a little pond (both of which have long since dried up).  This particular garden feature sat about halfway between the main Phipps residence and son Ogden's house to the west.  Click HERE for more on 'Spring Hill'.
