The Ogden Phipps Residence

The Ogden Phipps residence designed by Delano & Aldrich c. 1929 in Old Westbury.  Situated on his father's larger 160 acre estate 'Spring Hill' in Old Westbury, Ogden's house sits on roughly 20 acres in the northwest corner of the property.  Ogden was a partner at Smith, Barney & Co. and chairman of Bessemer Securities Corp.  He also carried on his family's tradition of breeding and racing thoroughbreds with his own stable, producing such notables as Buckpasser, Personal Ensign and Easy Goer. View from the service entrance.

View from the loggia, looking out over the pool and further what used to be a tennis court. Ogden is a member of the International Court Tennis Hall of Fame.

Thank you for this- I emailed you this week with a few questions, and here's the answer. This was always so intruiging to me, as I free up I'm Roslyn in the homes that backed up to the "party road" leading to this house. I always wanted to, but was too afraid to walk up close. Will this house remain intact or succumb to the new Spring Hill development?

This house has been fully restored by its new owners and shall remain as one of the most significant and original estates of its era.
