Before
Knollwood became part of the
Muttontown Preserve, Lansdell K. Christie, who owned
Muttontown Meadows at the time, purchased the property. After discovering that the house was damaged beyond repair he knocked it down and deeded the property to Nassau County, but not before taking some of the estate's lawn decorations back to his home. Today the large carved marble basin seen in the center of the lawn above sits behind Muttontown Meadows half way between the house's rear and the woods.

Amazing to see the "old marble basin". How do you know so much about "Muttontown Meadows"?- Jon
