When 'Idle Hour' Was For Sale
A brochure advertising 'Idle Hour', the William K. Vanderbilt estate designed by Richard Howland Hunt c. 1899 in Oakdale. The house was eventually purchased by Dowling College. Click HERE for more on 'Idle Hour'.
Wonderful brochure of an impossibly ugly house. Even the usually circumspect Warren and Wetmore seem to have lost their heads when called in to design the tennis court wing.
