'Oak Hill'

'Oak Hill', the Arthur Scott Burden estate designed by John Russell Pope c. 1915 in Brookville. Burden was president of Burden Iron Works located in Troy, NY. He died in 1921 from injuries sustained in a polo accident on his estate. His widow, nee Cynthia Burke-Roche, eventually married Guy Fairfax Carey Sr., giving the house the name 'Oak Hill' and using it as their country home. The estate was demolished in the 1950's.
