The V. Everett Macy Residence

The residence of V. Everett Macy, designed by Albro & Lindeberg c. 1908 in Hewlett. This was one of the firms earlier commissions. Macy was a banker who spent some of his time racing boats in Bar Harbor, Maine. The house no longer stands.

hmmm, Bar Harbor. I can't find a cottage listing for him. I wonder if he was the brother or cousin of Kate Macy Ladd, who had a grand Italian pile at Bar Harbor designed by Guy Lowell. This is the sort of information that Aesthete's lament is so good at ferreting out. Where is an aesthete when you need one?

Incidentally and coincidentally, Kate Macy Ladd's house is to be one of my posts next week.
