The William F. Ladd Residence

The William F. Ladd residence, designed by Peabody, Wilson & Brown c. 1920 in Cedarhurst. Ladd, a member of the New York Stock Exchange, shot himself to death in his Palm Beach home in 1949. The house is very similar to the PWB designed Cortland Barnes residence shown yesterday. The house has since been demolished but some outbuildings still remain.

Is this the same William F Ladd who married (1) Cornelia Lee in 1910, divorced, and (2) Natalie Rathbone Jones Ward, in 1948? Killed himself barely a year after his marriage.

I imagine it is. I did find more than one William F. Ladd however so I cannot be sure.

No google map reference either as I have yet to locate where exactly the house was.

William F. Ladd and Cynthia Lee were planning to reside in Woodmere following their 1910wedding.

I think this home later belonged to my Great Uncle R. Harriss... he was affiliated with the NY Cotton Exchange,,, was trying to sell the beach house,,, rented it out for an infamous deb party in late Sept. 1963; he later retired to Natchez,MS plantation life.
