'Bagatelle' in 1911
An article from House & Garden on 'Bagatelle', the estate of Thomas Hastings, designed by himself and built in Old Westbury c. 1913 (after a fire burned down the first one built c. 1908). Oh man, how I love this house, from the very first time I saw pictures of it 40 years ago. It's just wrong to look at the modern pictures and see the Home Depot quality windows set into the stables...what a beautifully composed courtyard.
