'Beacon Towers' Entrance
The front entrance to 'Beacon Towers', the Alva Smith Vanderbilt Belmont estate designed by Hunt & Hunt c. 1917 in Sands Point. The home was later owned by William Randolph Hearst. Click HERE for more on 'Beacon Towers'. Postcard from the Carolyn Mawbey Collection.
Wonderful, rare view of a house that has always been a great favorite of mine. It's surprising that there seem to be so few interior shots of the house available, nor floorplans.
I've mentioned this before - Hunt & Hunt archives are being transfered to the Library of Congress in DC. They include floor plans for Beacon Towers. Down to the sub-basement, up to the attic. Should be able for in-person view in a year or so. Online in a couple.

Keep up the great work Zach.
Wonderful to have the auto in the picture, to give a sense of the large scale of the gates
