Too bad it's been such a dry summer! I've never seen the Great Lawn look so brown.

If any of you find yourself in Washington, DC, the second Hillwood, Marjorie Merriwether Post's Georgian style eye boggler in our nation's capital is not to be missed. Operated by the Post Foundation, it is kept precisely as it was when she lived- chock a block full of Tsarist treasures and really good Louis-Louis furniture living side-by side with a fair amount of cream and gilt kitsch. What Mrs. Post may have lacked in innate good taste, she sure made up in exuberance. I think that it's as much of a "must see" as the Smithsonian.

I agree with Magnus that the Hillwood museum here in DC is a must visit -if not for the house (which is rather ordinary) but for the gardens and amazing collections of all things Russian Monarchy.
I had no idea there was 'another' Hillwood! Always learning something new here!
