Long Island & Real Life, 1915

Some images of Glen Cove, Sea Cliff & Bayville from the Long Island RailRoad's Long Island & Real Life, published 1915. I can only assume they used these images to entice people to ride the LIRR out to enjoy a day on Long Island.

It's interesting that the LIRR failed to play the same "suburban development" role between 1850 and 1876 that the New Jersey Central did in its own territory. That seems to have been largely the result of lackadaisical management -- though in the long-run, it was certainly good for the northern side of the island.
