Jones Beach East Bath House

The East Bath House at Jones Beach, designed by Herbert Magoon (and Robert Moses) c. 1930 in Wantagh. The second of the two bath houses also has a number of swimming pools but is far more enclosed than the West Bath House. Click HERE to see the East Bath House on google earth.

So, I'll date myself again.

My most enduring memory of Jones Beach was being induced to dive off the high diving board at the swmming pool by a $1 bill proffered by my mother. Today's insurance regulations have made the high diving board go the way of the Dodo Bird at public pools everywhere, and I can't imagine any self respecting child doing anything for $1.

Hahaha....I forgot all about high diving boards!!! I was much braver when I was younger....now I get nervous on a stepping stool.

$1? Boy Magnus, you are easy. (of course, I should talk---my only fear in the world is of heights)

These are amazing---so different from the rustic board and batten public beachouses up here----or for that matter, the board and batten bathhouses seen at even our local country club...

DED: My $1 price tag, alas, speaks more to my age than to what a cheap sell I am. That being said, am an easy sell.
