The J. Clinton Mackenzie Estate
The G. Clinton Mackenzie estate designed by himself c. 1900 on Centre Island. Mackenzie was an architect who designed a handful of other commissions on Long Island including numerous outbuildings like the garage at 'Fort Hill' seen HERE. The house is extant but has been altered. Click HERE to see the Mackenzie estate on google earth and HERE on bing. Photo from Architecture, 1903.

Don Diego de la Vega, your house is waiting ...
Seems like the alterations and subsequent enlargements have removed the mnay charming aspects of the house, particularly the tiled roof and scrolled cornice line. That being said, Centre Island, surrounded by Oyster Bay Harbor, still has to be one of the most beautiful locations on Long Island.
LOL @ Ancient
Also a bit of baby Idle Hour.
Some architects get their buildings, whatever the style, to sit happily on their sites, others just seem to superimpose.
McKenzie also did the Farm Complex at Burrwood, and an outbuilding at Wawapeck, in Cold Spring Harbor.
If I had to guess, I'd say McKenzie's work at Wawapeck was the de Forest Gatehouse down by Main Street, which is now separated from the main property and has been a private residence since, perhaps, the 1930s.
(The main building was built by Grosvenor Atterbury c. 1898. The Gatehouse was built c. 1910.)
The Burrwood Farm Complex is -- I think -- part of a parcel that includes another original Burrwood building immediately to the southeast.
Nice property...haven't seen the property closely but the images reflects a good architecture.
