The vintage photos in the link show it to be a charming and very livable house. Today, is the main house unused and endangered?

Nope... it's owned by Nassau County and they lease the interior as office space. The house looks better today than it does in my pictures...since they were taken the house has been given a new roof and a paint job.

The interior is in decent shape too...though the property itself needs a thorough clean out by a very good landscaper. This place used to be of arboretum quality and was just let go for way too long.

Marvelous place---in context, it was a new take on the Colonial Revival, crisper than what had gone before, and was one of the houses that made Delano and Aldrich's reputation. And was timeless enough that it was still getting published 20 years after it was built.

Did they bury the power and phone lines in the most recent renovation?

The house deserves it.
