You may have noticed...

So a new year seemed like a good time to make a few small changes. I've switched fonts over to the one I use on Beyond the Gilded Age...for no particular reason other than I like it more.

Also... I created a 'Demolished' tag and added a link to it below 'the estates' featured link on the right side of the screen. This will take you to a running list of all the estates that have ever been featured on Old Long Island that have met their demise through neglect, fire or outright demolition. There are currently 358 estates featured and 108 listed as demolished though I'm sure I've missed a few so if you catch one please let me know. Happy New Year!

less than a third of the estates are demolished? Not as bad as we thought---although so many of the best are gone.

Happy New Year!

No, I think much more have been demolished. Not all the estates that once stood have been on this site, and I'm sure there are MANY that are long forgotten sadly to say.

The new font is very smart, and a delight to read. Thank you for continuing your outstanding blog.
