The art of naming a street is lost, isn't it? Makes one yearn for Elm, State, Main, and even Pleasant, streets. Instead, we get

There was a brief period in which this house was attributed to McKim, Mead & White. I'm so relieved it wasn't.

What a shame, the gardens and the front columns are gone. This looks as if it's used as a public building now, anybody know what purpose?

The columns are back...that is an old aerial photo on Bing.

*instead we get* Heather Lane, Bonnie Sue Court, and whatever else the developer comes up with

The placement of the rear car parking and garage really spoils the entire property. There appears to be a derelict gazebo along the tree line out back, but the loss of the surrounding gardens is hard to mitigate. Otherwise it is a very imposing house with a once impressive and commanding view to the south over acres of manicured lawn.

And what is wrong with Bing? Do they update every 5 to 10 years? Adjacent Knole looks picture perfect with gates and gardens intact. Google already shows the first finished home.

DED, thankfully, for every "Mansion Drive" (right out of The Women, no?) there is redemption to be had in the likes of Skunks Misery Road, Woodward Drive, and Valentine Lane...

The driveway of Spring Hill became Spring Hill Lane. The road that led to the stables became Stable Lane. Somehow there wasn't already a Stable Lane in Old Westbury.

Ancient- your links are priceless- the Delmonico menu especially so. I have dreams too- thank God they haven't named an entree after them- it might clear the restaurant

Building was owned and used by NY Institute of Technology. Was in building in 1980's, upkeep was poor then.
