'Thatch Meadow Farm'

'Thatch Meadow Farm', the George Bacon estate enlarged by Peabody, Wilson & Brown c. 1914 in St. James.  Click HERE to see the brochure from when 'Thatch Meadow Farm' was for sale, likely sometime in the late 1930s or early 1940s.  Click HERE for more on the estate.  Click HERE to see 'Thatch Meadow Farm' on google earth and HERE on bing.

What an elegant contrast it makes to the Trapp Family Lodge, just up the shoreline.

It looks like somewhere Gloria Upson could have grown up. Very similar to what I imagine Upson Downs would look like.

Well if memory serves me, the Upsons were concerned about new neighbors encroaching into their world and it looks as if just to the North, on Sunset Drive, shown on Google, but not on Bing, a massive catering hall, institution or dormitory is being constructed. There goes the neighborhood.

Where is the entrance drive? Does one enter by passing those farm buildings?
