'Farnsworth' Aerial

An aerial of 'Farnsworth' the C.K.G. Billings estate designed by Guy Lowell c. 1914 in Matinecock.  Chicken Valley Road is seen running along the bottom of the photograph.  Click HERE and HERE for more on 'Farnsworth'.  Photo courtesy of SPLIA.

The aerial is a fantastic find.

What a surprise it must have been for any visitor heading up that long meandering drive stopping before that subdued brick facade, to discover those incredible interior spaces lying within. Truly remarkable interiors and a grandly scaled floor plan. Archibuff

Breathtaking. A very under appreciated design. Does not have the architectural notoriety that other Long Island mansions seem to have.

I wonder if the house offered any sort of views from upper floors.

It's hard to tell from the photo but the house sat roughly 100 feet above the entrance to the estate.

if that place had a view of Strawberry Fields and of Upper name escapes me pond (all time picturesque fave)..can you imagine?
That's from where I get my imagination of Hollow: wolver and Valley: chicken

A great home, one of my favorites. Wish there were more photos of the inside. Sad to see some of the pre-demolition photos in Monica Randalls book. Thanks for this pic
