'Martin Hall'
'Martin Hall', the James E. Martin estate designed by Little & O'Connor c. 1900 in Great Neck. Click HERE and HERE for more on 'Martin Hall' which has since been demolished.
I've always found it fascinating that 100 years ago it was the norm to sell postcards of private houses, and that the owners obviously must have been compliant. One can't imagine a postcard of Ira Rennert's house for sale at the corner drugstore.
Oh, wait, one can't imagine the corner drugstore, either.
I wonder what will happen to that Rennert house in 50 or 100 years. Will the buildings be demolished and the property subdivided? Or will some other use be found for it?
We were digging around an antique store and found a postcard of our house a couple of years ago. It was pretty neat, not everyone can say they have a postcard of their house!
