Harbor Hill's Fountain

Harbor Hill, Clarence MacKay's 600 acre estate in Roslyn, had its main house designed by McKim, Mead & White. The fountain was on the wing of the house that faced Hempstead Harbor, and is pictured illuminated for a party held in honor of Charles Lindbergh on June 13, 1927. Unfortunately, Harbor Hill was demolished, but there is a great book on the estate with a lot of old photographs.

'Harbor Hill' Gatehouse

The rear of the gate house to Clarence Mackay's 'Harbor Hill' in Roslyn. Notice the snack bar to the left, as the development that replaced 'Harbor Hill' converted the area around the gate house to a community pool.
