Excellent find! These photos really illustrate what a grand Beaux-Arts design Pope created at Spring Hill. It's such a shame this lovely home is gone...

When I was a little girl of about 8 or 9, my dad, to make extra money for his large family (there were 7 of us children)worked weekends doing odds and ends, at Phipp's Estate. I never knew what the place looked like...until now. Oh, if only I had the interest in these old mansions then, as I have now. I can't imagine what went through my father's mind, an immigrant from Italy, working at such an extravagant palace.One thing I will always remember: he always said how good they treated him.
I lived on the Phipps Estate from age 5 to age 20. It kills me to see this Beautiful estate sold to developers. My heart aches.
