'Longfields'
A postcard showing 'Longfields', the William Payne Thompson estate designed by Carrere & Hastings c. 1910 in Old Westbury. Click HERE to see the ruins of 'Longfields' and HERE to see the brochure from when 'Longfields' was for sale. Postcard from the Gary Lawrance collection.
tragedy - tragedy - tragedy. another one gone but for no particular reason and another one so well integrated into the setting. i mean, all of these estates had great landscaping but some of them are so perfectly integrated and this is one of them. i hate it when they leave ruins. just obliterate it so we don't have to be so sad. like someone dying and not burying the body. in the first post on this, one of the bloggers said, "i wonder what the archeologists will say". i hope they say, "wow - what a cartload of assholes"
