that study is such a contrast to the Chinoiserie Breakfast room the Bradley Martins replaced it with.
And the oval hall is a beautifully conceived space.
When I look at the dining room, I think of it being used as the Von Bulow's living room in Reversal of Fortune, and how perfectly Glenn Close did her scene of controlled but tipsy tightly wound matron, spot on.
if google search Herman Duryea you can find a link to an art source that sells reproductions of the painting over the mantle in the dining room..it's a portrait of Mrs. Duryea.

I'm geek-ed for the remake of Mildred Pierce.
If I remember the plot line Kate Winslet will transform the run down Winfield Hall after she marries/buys her husband.
I did a little hunting - "QUARTET, OPUS 64, NO. 5, MINUET" by Joseph Hayden.
If you remember - this is the music that played at the opening when the view traveled over Newport.
love that entrance court with the curving stairs and the ornate mantlepiece. and the paneling esp. those columns in the dining room. certainly never guess it from the outside. what a house with a split personality - prison in the front and wizard of oz in the back.
