'Muttontown Meadows', originally the Bronson Winthrop estate designed by Delano & Aldrich c. 1903 in Muttontown. Winthrop had D&A design him another house down the road in 1910 at which point he gave this house to his brother Egerton. this house was quite electrifying and original in its day, one of the most influential adaptations of colonial forms, with the sophistication of both architect and owner giving edge to the design. It was certainly among D&A's early successes.
And those interiors are very fine, barely dated after 90 or more years...
I agree with Down East Dilettante, the interiors were lovely as are gardens. I'm curious, now that the exterior has been repainted, are there any plans for refurbishing the interior?
