When the Dale Parker Estate Was for Sale

The Dale Parker estate designed by Harrie Lindeberg c. 1929 in Sands Point. Parker was a graduate of Yale and Harvard Law and was secretary of the Columbia Gas System in New York. Before that he was a partner with the Harriman Brothers investment banking firm. Click HERE to see the Dale Parker estate on google earth and HERE on bing.

That's quite the house... Do we know when this was for sale and for how much it eventually sold? Very funny wording in the brochure as well... Gotta love real estate agents!

If you were to read the wikimapia info you'll find that Parker defaulted on the mortgage and the place was vacant for twenty years. Property records show "interior not in keeping with exterior". Pictures here show that to be true.

Per the Spinzia book - Parker defaulted same year house was built - 1929. No reason given. Remained vacant into 1947 when John Phillip Ohl purchased. It was in the 80's that the place went thru a renovation as compared to a restoration. What was lost and why would be interesting to know.

It clearly had something to do with the Crash.

I have this brochure too and its from 1995. The Daniel Gale offices during that decade marketed several Lindeberg homes.

I've always thought that Lindeberg was one of the unsung heroes of Long Island country houses; mercifully, his own house in Matinecock has survived the years...

Security word: gistst ––– the boulevard that leads to the heart of the matter.

Lil' gay boy - looking at the bing map is that basketball court (I presume thats what it is) part of surviving Lindeberg's estate? It seems to be hidden far away from the house in the woods.

So little seems to be known about Harrie. During WWII he lived with his third wife, Angeline Krech James, who appears to have remarried later. While its is Mrs. H.T. Lindeberg (an ex?) donated much of his collection of books in 1962 to LIU C.W. Post.
