This is one of my all time favorite houses. I actually came close to buying it at one point and stil regret not "stepping up to the plate". Aside from the wonderfully huge room pictured, not an overly large house, and a great deal of charm. Oddly, the front of the house is still beautifully landscaped, but the back is a bit of a disappointment: The ground slopes sharply downward to...nothing much of anything. I wonder if it was like this in Lindeberg's day.

I am viewing on my iPhone, but if those are peacocks on the mantle, they are interesting as a repeating theme for Lindeberg.

This place fits the same concept of "Hedgegrow" from my earlier post -

Magnus did you hear of any connection between Lindeberg/Pennington/Draper?

I gave a incomplete link to the Houses of the Hamptons story on Black Point - this should work - page 193 -

I second Magnus' vote for this house. It is very interesting to compare it with Grey Craig, the astonishing house Lindeberg designed for the Michael Van Beurens in Middletown RI (until recently owned by Nicholas Cage). Many related features of design, composition, and materials---but in a way Lindeberg's own smaller house is the better---sometimes it's better when some restraint has to be exercised. It's a great house.

i totally love these interiors esp. the library with the sculpture niches on top of the bookshelves and the fireplaces with pairs or double pairs of stuff. my absolute fave is that back to back couch - one side to the fire, one side to the books. even the furniture is in scale and actually looks comfortable and inviting - more than i could say about some of these places. and the art works. a great house.

security word def - "whemi" - shortened query requesting one's location reminding one of the same question posed by the fugawi tribe as in "where the fugawi?"
