Otto Kahn

(The front page report of Kahn's death. Note that Jack Morgan and Tom Lamont went themselves to Kahn's offices to pay their respects. Not something one might expect Jamie Dimon to do today under similar circumstances.)
I seem to remember reading somewhere that Kahn had been considering converting to Episcopalian late in life?
In other news, I humbly suggest that this photograph, from all appearances, including the riding clothes, and relatively youthful face is from around 1900 +/-, and shows Kahn pre-Oheka. Kahn began Oheka in 1919, by which time he was 52, and getting gray of visage
I think he did convert, a few years before his death. Which begs the question of what the rabbi from Temple Emanu-El was doing officiating at his burial service.
And Lil Gay boy, as regards that cute little gambrel roofed cottage yesterday, it is sooooooo doomed. The North shore just does not seem to attract the sorts people who want to fix up a cute little gardener's cottage as a delightful weekend retreat.
Ancient...according to 'Our Crowd', Kahn wanted to convert but decided against it at the end of his life given what was going on with Germany and the Nazis at the time.
Great photo Zack, I love seeing pictures of Kahn and Oheka. Please show as many casual photos as possible. I would like to see some pictures of the front of the estate from Jericho Tpke or some of the staff. I do have the Oheka book written by Schaeffer. More Oheka please.
Marie Colvin is decidedly on topic; Old Long Island has a noble history of producing iconoclasts such as her. When I was working in Paris, a colleague pointed her out to me, but sadly we never met.
I would absolutely love to know where & when this photo was taken; I've always admired Kahn's quip, "...a kike is a Jewish gentleman who has just left the room."

Off topic I know but a moment of silence for a good ole Oyster Bay gal, journalist Marie Colvin, murdered by the Syrians in Homs yesterday.
