'Darragh Hall'

'Darragh Hall', the Darragh Anderson Park estate designed by Peabody, Wilson & Brown c. 1920 in Old Brookville.  Park was the son of William Gray Park of 'Ivycroft' in Old Westbury and was president of the New York Empire Bank and partner in the firm of Parker & Co.  The Park's daughter Edith married Alastair Bradley Martin of 'Knole' in Old Westbury and 'Darragh Hall' was subsequently owned by them.  Click HERE to see the residence on google earth and HERE on bing.

Photos from Arts & Decoration, 1920.

How civilized is this house--finely proportioned, lovely loggias for breakfast---McMansion builders could take lessons.

I like how the owners left the pool a bit of a distance from the house, instead of how most new houses have them right outside the back door.

So glad to see this intact. Wish you had more photo's.

Now that I am 70 I wonder what became of Jamie Park who lived in what Morristown NJ calls the Mellon honeymoon cottage there and went to Miss Gill's School with me who began in Kindergarten and graduated while the boys (and some girls) went off to boarding schoolas. I believe his father was Darragh Park Jr and his brother, the artist, was the third Darragh of his line. Adrienne Boise Bliss Brown Greenberg
