'Harbor Hill', the Clarence Mackay estate designed by McKim, Mead & White between 1899-1905 in Roslyn. Most of these photos were taken at the end of construction. Click HERE and HERE for more on 'Harbor Hill'.

The enormous scale of the house is not immediately evident in photos such as the first image. I would have loved to have visited and experienced the grandeur for myself.
A great set of a exceedingly crisp photos. Zach, thanks for bringing these out!
Not to hijack a topic but in case someone was interested in buying a NRHP listed (1982) decaying estate credited as designed by Stanford White on 750+/- acres for a steal, try Guthrie Hall in Virginia:

The scale is only hinted at when you see the 2 story service wing roughly equal in height to the principal rooms on the main floor. I would also have loved to see this magniificent estate in person. From the well designed network of carriage roads, breathtaking open vistas high above Roslyn, superb formal gardens, fantastic stables and carriage house, this was a beautifully executed estate. archibuff
it is easy to see how this would drain any mans bank account, but an exciting way to fly
