Great photographs! I get the impression there was an echo as you walked through the library.
Really great early photos showing quite a barren and stark landscape surrounding the mansion.
In a competition for the least appealing "Gilded Age" mansion, Indian Neck Hall and its neighbor, the second Idlehour, would certainly be among the early arrivals at the finish line, to my mind. It's almost as if their architects forsaw their eventual conversion to institutional use.
