Here's a comparably priced house in Farquier County, Virginia.

The property taxes appear to be about $50,000 less. (Drive 15 miles to the west and they would be $120,000 less.)

Lovely D&A property that still looks rather nicely nestled in the woods with that fine winding approach drive!

The Ancient, OT but Canterbury (taxes @ $34,336.58) is currently owned by Summit Community Bank (of West Virginia) as the 'prominent' family from New Orleans who acquired it last lost it in foreclosure in May of this year. The bank would happily take $7.5M for that property.
