The Alexander C. Humprheys residence designed by C.P.H. Gilbert in Glen Cove c. 1899. The home would later be sold to Emmet Queen (when the pictures were taken) and eventually to Frank W. Woolworth, who would have C.P.H. Gilbert design him 'Winfield Hall' after the above house burned down. Click HERE for more on the estate.

Zach, I love this blog. Can you get a hold of any old maps of the Gold Coast showing the locations of the various estates? i hear they exist but can never find any on line. If you have any interest, it might be cool. i know i'd love to see them here. thanks again for your work here.
Thank you Zach! As always, wonderful photos. This original design is evocative of the "Mission Style" that was popular in Southern California at the turn of the 20th century. What a surprise to see this in Glen Cove. I wonder how it fared during the winter? Although the layout appears similar, the exterior is quite a contrast with the marble house Gilbert designed for Woolworth.
