'Northcourt'

'Northcourt', the Lawrence Hobart Shearman estate designed by James O'Connor c. 1918 in North Hills. Shearman was vice-president of W.R. Grace & Co.. like it - like it - like it!!!! all those brick pattern walls are fantastic. also the enclosed courtyard/drive and the garden which appears to have a building on it nowadays. their expansion seems to have been done with underappreciation for the original structure but that seems the way for the survivors that are reused and not restored. and even the places that brag about their gardens and landscaping are not olmsteads or farrands. but at least one survived that has some interest and provenance. yay!!

sorry i have not availed you of my keen mind and rapier wit of late but i was gone for a couple of days.

As an alumnus of this school, I can take pride in learning the rich history of the school having been such a lavish estate.
