'Muttontown Meadows', originally the Bronson Winthrop estate designed by Delano & Aldrich c. 1903 in Muttontown. Winthrop had D&A design him another house down the road in 1910 at which point he gave this house to his brother Egerton. 'Clayton'

'Clayton', originally the Stephen Lloyd Bryce estate designed by Ogden Codman Jr. c. 1901 in Roslyn. The house was later purchased by Childs Frick, son of Henry Clay Frick of Carnegie Steel. Today the home operates as the Nassau County Museum of Art. Click HERE for more on 'Clayton'.

'Harbor Hill'

'Harbor Hill', the Clarence Mackay estate designed by McKim, Mead & White between 1899-1905 in Roslyn. Mackay was chairman of the board of the Postal Telegraph Cable Co., president of the Commercial Cable Co. and Commercial Pacific Cable Co. and held numerous other positions with other companies. He was also chairman of the board of the Philharmonic Society and St. Vincent's Hospital in NYC. The Super's Residence at 'Westbury House'

The superintendent's residence to 'Westbury House', the Jay Phipps estate in Old Westbury. Phipps had James O'Connor either design an entirely new house or enlarge a quaker farmhouse towards the southern end of the estate c. 1919 for his superintendent. The Italian Blue Pool Garden at 'Planting Fields'

The Italian Blue Pool Garden and tea house, designed by Guy Lowell and Andrew Sargent between 1915-18 at William R. Coe's 'Planting Fields' in Oyster Bay, now complete after undergoing a few years of restoration. The Derelict Greenhouses of 'Welwyn'

Recently uncovered from a couple of decades of unabated plant growth are the greenhouses to 'Welwyn', the Harold I. Pratt estate in Glen Cove. The main house was originally designed by Babb, Cook & Willard c. 1906 but Delano & Aldrich gave the house an extensive makeover in the 1920s. Click HERE for more on 'Welwyn'. The Charles Steele Estate

The estate of Charles Steele (originally built for J.F.D. Lanier) built by James Brown Lord c. 1891 in Old Westbury. Steele gave the house an extensive renovation after he purchased it from Lanier. Steele was a partner in the law firm of Seward, Guthrie, Morawetz & Steele. He was also a partner at J.P. Morgan and Comapny. 'Film-Shoot Homes Generate Buzz and Buyers'

From this weekend's New York Times Real Estate section, an article on a couple of Long Island's film friendly residences. Above and below is Debbie Regan's 1907 Old Westbury colonial on Wheatley Road, featured prominently in the article. It was most recently used for the filming of 'The Oranges' starring Hugh Laurie. Ever since I was a little kid I remember this house being used for tv shows and movies. Frank W. Woolworth's 'Winfield Hall' by C.P.H. Gilbert in Glen Cove is currently being used for the filming of 'Mildred Pierce', an HBO miniseries with Kate Winslet that will premiere next February.
